AIG spits fire against MASSOB, IPB
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Usman Gwary, in charge of Zone 9, has declared categorically that the police are ready to battle the Movement for Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Independent People of Biafra (IPB).
Gwari, who spoke in Awka during his familiarization tour of Anambra State Police Command, condemned the activities of the two organisations, which, he said, were inimical to the peace of the people and warned that the police would not fold their arms and watch the peace being enjoyed by the people to be derailed.
He said: “We will not want anything that will bring problem and destroy the peace we are enjoying to be derailed. We will not allow any group to disrupt the peace we are enjoying in the South-East.”
He promised to attend to the manpower need of the police command as requested by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. H. H. Karma, in his welcome address.
The AIG also promised to take the other requests of the police commissioner to the police authorities in Abuja.
He commended the state Governor, Willie Obiano, for his various assistance to the state police command, which, according to him, had helped in the successes recorded in the operations of the police in the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Karma, told the visiting AIG that Anambra State had been made safer and more secured for habitation and investment.
