Dressed in their national attire;
Compatriots they are called,
Nigeria's call, they promise to obey.
Their passions for their father's land, Burning and glittering like hot coal
Ready to break through all odds and give their all.
Safety of the citizens they are to ensure,
But insecurity they enhanced.
In them, the citizens buried their faith
But the citizen's trust they betrayed and frosted instead.
"We are your friends", they say,
But more fores they created instead.
"Checkpoints" they named it, but "death points" they created in disguise
Stationed, with guns hung on their shoulders.
National duty they say they render
Alas, many lives they have sent to the underworld left to wonder.
This they achieve in the name of "show me your particulars"
Your particulars they requested, but #20 or more they desire.
What makes the difference between them and their rival?;
"Your life or your money?" Their rivals utter;
"Your particulars or #20?" They mutters.
Your compliance is your gate pass
But your refusal leads to your death warrant
I wonder and imagine why they suddenly forget their call of duty;
Safety they are to guarantee but the opposite they gave without mercy.
After all my comprehensive thoughts, all am left with is to mutter prayers to the almighty.
