Property owners in Ondo State can now obtain titles for a minimum fee of N15,000 and maximum of N25,000 even with the processing and delivery period of the certificates pegged at eight weeks.
Giving details of the new deal at a stakeholders meeting in his office on Friday, the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko said issuance of Certificate of Occupancy in the state will be done within eight weeks for N25,000 in urban areas, maximum of N20,000 in semi-urban areas and maximum of N15,000 in the rural areas of the state.
He said the package is as a result of government’s digitalised Certificate of Occupancy scheme, which he flagged off on Thursday with some beneficiaries presented with their certificates . He enjoined the stakeholders to take advantage of the scheme because according to the governor, a house is useless to the owner without the title.
The governor had, at the presentation of digitalised Certificate of Occupancy to beneficiaries at a well attended ceremony earlier on Thursday said the new digitalised Certificate of Occupancy will eradicate fraud and unnecessary gatekeeper or agents, adding that the new systemic titling of land registration is a way of moving away from the old order that can move the state forward.
He said getting a Certificate of Occupancy is very important if the state is to develop and progress, stressing that a house without a title is useless added that the best legacy left behind in the developed world is estate.
The governor who assured the people that authentic Certificate of Occupancy is power to its owner that can be used as collateral, added that the digitalised Certificate of Occupancy is the best in Nigeria and that land is a very important resource.
